Words of Praise from Rory Miller for "The Law of Self Defense"

Hey folks, I'd heard the name "Rory Miller" mentioned for years, always in a positive sense, but I'm ashamed to confess that I didn't look into Rory closely until earlier this year.

What a mistake--the delay, I mean. I finally picked up a copy of his book "Meditations on Violence," and from the first page I was hooked. Rory has a unique, experienced, practical, and insightful perspective into the lawful and unlawful uses of violence, and he delivers that insight in an easy-to-read and engaging style.  After tearing through "Meditations" I dug immediately into "Facing Violence," and I can see I'm going to have to just read every darn thing he's written. (Incidentally, you can find a selection of Rory's books in our recommended reading list.)

Having been so impressed with Rory's work, I took it upon myself to send him a copy of my own humble writing efforts, "The Law of Self Defense."  Often when I do this, it's like throwing a book into a black hole. Not with Rory, he got back to me promptly, and was very kind in his remarks about my book.  When I asked if he'd care to offer a testimonial he quickly provided the following:

Andrew Branca’s Law of Self-Defense is the best treatment of the subject I’ve seen. The counselor doesn’t shy away from the complexities of the subject— for several concepts there are tables covering the nuanced differences in the law in all fifty states. Yet he has somehow made it accessible, clear and understandable. Even easy to read. Almost fun. The information in this book is invaluable for anyone who teaches or studies self-defense.

Wow. Humbling.  Thanks, Rory.

Incidentally, Rory also teaches extensively himself, as well as blogs and all that good stuff. You can find what he's up to at Chiron Training.
